In celebration of the cherry blossom season, this exhibit explores the global pandemic and climate change harms by transporting visitors to a fictional city of the future with the objective of showing the consequences of these unattended issues. The installation speaks about three themes of renewal: human, nature, and innovation, presenting “sakura” or cherry blossoms as a symbol for nature as a whole.
The main room is really the most attractive part of the exhibit–the other rooms are compelling, but not as impressive in my opinion–where multiple scenarios are shown in a fast-moving montage full of color, textures, and interesting information. The exhibit is also an official part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival for the fourth year.
The visuals are designed by Yuya Takeda and the music is by Mario Hammer and the Lonely Robot–installations created by Design Foundry (I had worked with them at events in the past, ha!).
